NEW JLaudio W8

all that shyt he said was fluff in my opinion.... i got a w7 b/c i think its the best, not b/c i have money to burn.... u'll soon see that i like high quality products, does other companies make that yes (not eD-ks). so u can best count on Warren to buy some higher end comps now...

Alpine(deck) / pg (amps) / jl (sub) / ?(comps/ as of right now its infinity)

I never said that everyone that buys JL does so just for image. Read my post again. I did say that a lot of people do. I could car less what somebody looking at my system thinks about the equipment that I have. I've been running JL stuff for 12+ years now. Back when I got my first JL sub, people would ask what kind of subs I was running and when I told them they gave that nod that you get when you know they have no clue but don't want to look like an idiot. At that time Kicker a Rockford were making the good well known stuff.

Some people that buy JL get it because it is the right sub for their application. The majority though buy JL because either 1) they see it in all the magazines in the over the top installs and assume that it must be the best 2) they see them in some car that Funkmaster Flex hooked up 3) the salesman told them that they were the best or 4) they had money to burn and figured they would get the most expensive sub readily available cause that would let everyone know that they have money and it's expensive so it must be the "best".

Most of the above people are into the status of having a W7 in their car. They want what everyone else thinks is the best and are unable to decide for themselves what is best for them. Most of these people are the same ones that want to be heard coming blocks away and are sorely disappointed that the "best" subs aren't louder than everything else out there. These people don't understand that JL subs are meant first and foremost to sound good and provide accurate subbass. These people wouldn't know accurate subbass if it hit them in the head. They associate the "BEST" with the loudest, and that simply isn't the case.

I got my old 10W6AE because: 1.) It was on sale for a good price and better than a W0. 2.) It's a clean sounding sub. 3.) I was'nt after the loudest sub. 4.) It did not require a large enclosure; so I could fit it in my truck.

I'm not really into the "Bling" image that some are. Like a pair of shoes, I like speakers that are comfortable to me, and have good quality.

On another note, I did some looking around and I only found one guy that claims he has W8 subs but shows no pics of them, and one on another forum that claims he knows about the W8. Trouble is, when I visited JL's web site there was no sign of anything called a W8. This is starting to smell like....well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fart.gif.9285a21c4a53b1a914c9dedbfcf9d894.gif

I use to be an all out JL person. I had the W1s, W0s, W6s, and W3s. I loved each set I had. Each time I got a different set they sounded better. I was never after the "loudest sub" my thinking is if you have a good sub and good power it is going to be loud. Now how it sounds is what matters. I really loved the W6s and W3s, yeah they were a little pricey and most JL is but you get what you pay for, a great product with great customer service and support. also their warranty is great too, had 3 12 w3s and one was blown/popped or whatever and they replaced all 3 for the price of shipping. which came out to 36 dollars. I never had any problems with them. I too use to have people look at them and ask "what's JL?"

But now I must say that, after many years with JL products I took a chance and went for a change. I got me a 15 SI Mag D2 and could not be any happier with it. I was weary of going with it since all I had heard is what I read around forums for 2 months. I am very impressed with this sub and it took place of my 3 12W3s and they are in my room right now (as I was testing to see if I wanted to keep the SI or put back my JLs) well the JLs are going to be sold. I am sticking with my Mag and going to get a second (one sub just looks lonely) soon.

the main thing is go with what you like, and what sounds good and performs best for you. If you find something you like and it is pricey bust your ass and save the money for it. You will be happy if it is what you want.
