Okay I got the new car on the way Bmw 540. This is going to be my new beast //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Except this time I'm trying the SQ side of the sport. I have most of the equipment already. Zapco amps, Diamond audio hex 3 way components, and Diamond audio Macdaddy 12's in the rear. Which brings me to my question. I am going to build a custom console in the center of the car. I intend to put a 10" macdaddy in the front. Anybody seen this done in a car like mine ? I have this funny feeling there is going to be alot of cutting taking place //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Somebody give me some ideas please. Anything.

It seems to me I have some back (way back) issues of car audio magazine with that type of custom work done in a sedan. If I come accross it I let you know. What I have been seeing more often is the install of midbass/small subs in the floor of the vehicle in front of the passenger and driver seats. This is a cool idea but if you happen to a big dip in the road, you'll have a speaker on your lap because the box is under the vehicle.

I have seen what your talking about. I plan on mounting 8's in the custom built pods in the doors for midbass. and a sub in the dash for the upront bass. will also have 6 1/2's in kickpanels. Stil working with the tweeters to see what gives me the best imaging. I'm only going to use the subs in the rear for the spl portion.

The only thing I can think of for the 10 is to aim it at the window or the floor..but the window will cause all kinds of little problems.. You could get away with a smaller enclosure upfront by using A/P mat which doesnt necessarily have to be right behind the sub just towars the back with could be venting either to you or the firewall. Just wondering but why the 8's if you have three way comps, isn't that what the woofer is for and the 10 for UFB? or are you adding the 8's to the 2 way comps? That would make sense.. If you like the A/P thing you might wanna put the 12's in an old enclosure first to see if it will clash with the ten so you can make corrections to the 10 enclosure or make A/P enclosures for the 12's too. I have no idea what a 540 looks like so I can't really throw any wild ideas your way.

Mike

Yeah the 8's are added to make the three way components. The 8's are solely for midbass. I am building an ap enclosure using the rear deck and plexi cylinders for the enclosure that I'm going to put the 12's in. It should be sweet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif The UFB came from listening to Harry Kimura's acura. All I can say is ****. I also made a trip a couple years back, down to North Carolina to listen to Richard Clarks buick. I was in awe. I have also listened to several cars with a sub enclosure in the dash and was very impressed by the sound. The stage heigth and width was incredible. I could actually sit back and close my eyes. And imagine I was sitting in front of the stage at a concert. This is what I am after.
