NEED HELP! Speaker adapter

Hey guys I bought the CDT-61A (6-1/2) speaker system to put into my 2003 civic. So to make it easy, I bought the http://www.crutchfield.com/S-QRpX5oNBYmG/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?a=1&s=0&cc=01&g=103200&id=essential_info&i=142SAH6

speaker adapter, but from sounddomain (although it's identical, except the screws).

Problem is, the CDT speakers are just do not fit ANYWAY into the adapter. The screw holes just do not adopt. What do I do?

I figure they're both the schoche SAH6. The civic is to have 7" hole. So I figured the adapter to have 7" in diamter. But it doesn't. It only measures 6-1/4 in diameter. Bad adapter? It's identical to what crutchfield says will fit. PLEASE HELP.
