need help on bigger alternator

i need to upgrade my alternator in my truck. i have a 97 ford f-150. i have a jvc kameleon reciever, gettin a memphis four channel amp for mids and highs from a freind and i already have an xtant x1001 amp. i was wondering what size alternator i need to power both those amps and all the rest of the electronics in the car including a radar scanner and 10 disc cd changer. im gonna also get a yellow cap gellcell for more power. would 130 amp alternator work or do i need more amps? should i get a cap or two too?

Your stock alt. should be fine for just those two amps. And don't waste your money on caps!!!

you could just get a better battery and upgrade the big three.

Could you explain the big three and what guage wire to use.

The Big 3 Are:

1. negative battery wire to ground - just replace the negative batt. terminal and wire and ground it to the factory location

2. engine block to ground - replace the ground wire from the engine block to the chasie with a bigger wire (maybe 4 guage)

3. alternator to batt - add a fused wire from the postive post on you alternator (the one comming from the battery) to the postive terminal on your battery. DO NOT exchange wires just add a extra one. make sure it fused the same size as your factory fuse.

Note on #2- Some cars have a batt-engine block connection stead of chassis to engine block...

would a 1/0 wire be fine?also im kinda lost..on the + from alt to battery,

why cant you just replace the wire instead of adding another fused one?

you sure itll be fine, ive heard how when ur lights dim your alternator isnt pushin enough power and will die from to much stress. and just yesterday my freinds alternator went out on him with just one amp. and i'll deff replace the battery and see about the three thing, thanx
