need an amp

I also should have asked whether its single or dual voice coil and how many ohms per voice coil. If it dual voice coil then probably the DEI or JL Audio class d amps 500x1 (i think @ 2 ohms) if not then PPI, Orion, any other brand name you can think of..If you like an amp and arent sure run it by me and I can do some checking.

Oddly enough, I cant really say that was overly impressed with the Xtant X series. I did a side by side comparrison between the X and an Infinity Perfect- no other variables- same amp, same deck, same EQ, etc. It appeared as though the X did have quite impressive excursion, however, in comparrison to the Perfect; the X lacked in all other areas SQ, Accuracy, Response, and overall performance.

Just my own experience though....

I would tend to look for something in the 350 to 500 watt RMS range to power one though.

Check out the following:

JL Audio 500/1

JBL BP600.1

Phoenix Gold Tantrum 500.2

Alpine MRV-T707

All of these should provide adequete power for this particular Sub.

MIKE......i can get either the single or the dual....what do u think about a RF power 500.2(500 watts rms @ 4ohms) but some ppl told me RF is going down hill.

Zane put up a good place to start. And as far as I know Rockford is doing fine. I personally don't car for the sound of their amps. SoundStream is being bought out by Power Acoustik, and ADST has rumors floating around that they are going downhill, or being bought out just depends on which rumor you do or don't believe. BTW Rockford just bought MB Quart, so I really don't think they are going anywhere anytime soon.

Now If you are going to use one sub a The Fosgate amp will be fine with a single voice coil. If you want to possibly get another sub then you should look into one of the digital amps.

Ok, would a Phoenix Gold ZX600Ti run in a 2ohm load, and is this a good amp?(I havent heard to much about them) I found out i can get 2 10" L7 Kicker Solo-Baric subs for less then the Xtant sub. thanks for ur time

The ZX600ti is definately stable at 2 ohms. Not even much of a workout for it. I have personally seen them as low as .5 ohms and performing quite well. They put out a bit more than they are rated at, and are a true workhorse.- Thumbs up all arround.

I would also say that the Kickers would be a better choice in this situation, not that I particularly care for the design of the L7, however, they are a very capable sub. I havent heard of or experienced any problems with them otherwise.

Sounds like a good combination!!

Hey Zane this may sound stupid but is the ZX600TI 600 watts RMS @ 4ohms or is it 600 watts peak? I asked because one place says its 600 RMS, and others say 600 peak.

That is a peak power rating at 4 ohms mono. I wouldnt be too worried about this amp's output too much though; as I have still not seen one that ONLY does 600 watts. PG terribly under-rates thier products. If I recall, a few months ago either Car Sound or Auto Sound & Security did a review of this amp and similar amps and the 600ti actually tested at arround approximately 825 watts mono at 4 ohm. Dont quote me on the exact number yet, I will try and dig a little and see if I can find the exact review. Point is, at 4ohm mono this amp is a beast, at 2 ohm- even better, take it down to 1 ohm and wow.

As I said, a very fine amp...

Good Luck,

-zane
