Ok, I know my screen name and everything is LoudCrownVic. I love my car, I really do, but at 145900 she's getting tired. I just changed the oil after 2500 miles like I always do, and I had some chewed up metal come out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif ******* cops driving my car too hard... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

And with gas at 2.00 a gallon and rising, the V8 power is becoming a passing craze.

But, since I got my CrownVic, I've been on the lookout for a replacement, but I can't decide which vehicle will best suit my needs. I'm looking for about 27 or less mpg with average driving, which unless it's a Lexus or someting rules out a V8. I would like the car to be highly modifyable with a good strong aftermarket, and I'd like to have room for my 15" L7. And above all it has to be cool and fast. I'll be going to college next year, so keep that in mind if you respond.

Id like to find an older car preferrably that has no major problems except fading paint, shitty interior, and a few cracked hoses and bad plug wires and ressurect it, in the price range of 1000 bucks or less, or get something nice(er) for up to 3500 bucks.

Some cars I've been considering within the realm of possiblility:

Nissan 300ZX, early '90's non turbo 5-speed or 80's with turbo 5-speed

Mazda RX7, 80's with 5-speed

Lexus SC400 (if the price is right)

Toyota Supra, 80's,- 1990

Volkswagen Golf (strictly audio vehicle)

Eagle talon/Mitzu Eclipse early 90's (if you can't beat em, Join em)

Ford Probe (even though everyone who ever owned a Probe beat the hell out of it)

Dodge______?

No hondas, MAYBE a Ponticac or a Chevy.

Please help!

Please, i need suggestions, and might just buy from you if you have

Um, prefer to stay away from pontiac. GTP Grand Prix=overpriced balls, tiny ass aftermarket, every stooge on the block has one, etc etc etc... Sorry.

Dodge Stealth/Mitzu 3000GT I forgot to add..

pssssff... ur complaining ur gas is 2bux a gallon, i dont remeber when it was that cheap here lol

the eary 90s eagle/mitsu/plymoth talon/eclipse/lazer can be had AWD turbo for like 1500-3000... id go wit that. one in the paper for 2500 100k miles turbo AWD, too bad i got the jimmy

Yes, i have looked at those. I do like them but the AWD kills the gas mileage. I've been looking locally... Haven't found anything that excites my interest. I am going to shop around Dubuque Ia tomorrow and see if there are any obscure little dealerships that have something worth it. Anyone have any more suggestions besides what's on the list? I am kind of in a rut (as it is obvious) on the kind of car I'm looking for. Hoping for a newer Nissan 300ZX or 240ZX. I've always liked them.

90-93 5.0 mustang they get roughly 20mpg if you stay off of it and theres no way you can say they arent modifyable. and uh...it has a very potent v8 225hp 300ft lbs.

I would get a DSM, Atleast for the most part they are somewhat reliable. Please dont say they crankwalk.

If you dont know how to rebuild a rotory, or even know how they work, I wouldnt bother with the early Rx7's.

The early Supras have crappy headgaskets, so if you get one you will have to tear the head down to replace that before you start modding.

I love older corollas, truthfully. AE92's or even if you can get a AE86 Hatchback. Nice cars good MPG, and very relable.

What about a MR2 91+. If you cant afford the 3sgte, get the 4agze. They have an ok aftermarket. The 3sgte has loads of potential. VERY fun cars to drive. I rather have a 95 MR2 then a 95 Supra TT 6speed.

I hope I helped you a bit. I say, the FWD Talon (cause you dont want AWD, and are a bit cheaper then the eclipse.), or a 91+ MR2. Relable cars, ok gas mileage. Fun to drive.

Goodluck

What are you 5 feet tall. No grown man fits in a talon. I tried, very cramped. Where is he gonna fit his 15?

Found Locally: 80's Rx7 gsl (not a turbo), interior torn apart, rusty on rear fenders, not run for 4 years, $250. Early 90's hatch Mustang 2.3 4-cyl auto, blown motor, perfect body, stinky but nice int, not sure but the guy wants under $500 (I have 4 different motors I could put into this at my house later, like a 5.0, 351W,460, but fix 4 banger for now?) Eagle Talon, nice shape, 2.0 4cyl non-turbo 5-speed, $2695. I'm afraid of it though because they crankwalk... JK. I'm actually thinking about getting that because I have to borrow money to build my credit some more for college.

I sat in a friend's Talon a year ago and it was a bit close inside, I do admit, but I could still hit the clutch.

I personally like the rx7 becaue it would be a challenge, the Mustang cause I'm a Ford guy, and the Talon because I would then fit in with the ricer crowd. A few selling points o anything I do get, however, are these- A manual transmission, gas mileage, and aftermarket speed mods.

Also note- I hardly use the rear seat in my vehicle, mostly because my sister and friends all now have driver's licenses and they don't have to kiss my ass for rides anymore, so the L7 can ride in the relative comfort and safety of the backseat if needed.

dont bother fixing a n/a 2.3 mustang engine. its not worth it,i have a 2.3 in my stang now and it LITERALLY takes 13 seconds to get to 60mph. you could go find a 2.3 turbo from a thunderbird turbocoupe and put it in there and you can run with 5.0s with 25mpg. go to turboford.org for more info on the swap.

go pick up a wheels and deals or any type of magazine like that. They have a section for under 2000$ also have some antiques and classics for pretty cheap that you can restore.
