my crappy sealed box

I am just starting to put together my system for my impala ls 03. Now prior to a few months ago I knew absolutley nothing but now i'm starting to understand a little bit but I feel as if i've been bamboozled by my local auto audio shop. they talked me into getting a sealed box and I put 2 15 inch jlw3 d2's which is being pushed by a mmats 1400 watt amp. after listening to my system. it's not that loud, i'm feeling like I should have went with a ported box instead. I want to rattle other peoples cars. everyone tell me what I should do I've already dropped 200 on this crappy box. should I shell out another 300 for a ported one?

ported will be way louder than sealed

screw the shop, build your own box for waaay cheaper

how would I build my own box? how much is that all going to cost? how hard is that? what materials would I need?

its actually not that hard to build your own box...i have built my own and helped my friends with theirs. You will def. need pretty thick MDF board (about 3/4" or 5/8"), screws or heavy duty staples, wood glue, cauk, different saws and other basic tools. It should cost you more than 60 bucks or so depending on how much bracing and what not u use...i would give it a try

you build it by getting a design and then attaching pieces of wood together to form the box

depending on what tools you have now it can range from 40-100 (i think)

it is not very hard if you have some experience with wood work, even if you don't it is still a fun learning experience

3/4" MDF, screws, drill, saw to cut wood, liquid nails, some covering material if you want to cover it
