Mustang Unit's

I'm not sure how to remove the HU, but yes, it can be done. Many audio shops offer free installation when you buy a HU if you don't want to tackle it yourself. My friend recently put a system in his 2000 Mustange. He bought 2 12" Rockford HE subs and had to use 2 seperate boxes in order for them to fit. You can also have boxes custom made or remove the rear package tray to fit a bigger box in the trunk. If you remove the package tray and put a larger box in, no thief could just pull it out, but then again, neither could you if it needed to be moved.

THIS IS A LITTLE TOOL THAT YOU INSERT INTO TWO LITTLE HOLES ON EITHER SIDE OF THE RADIO.(THE TOOL LOOKS LIKE A U)SLIDE THE TOOLS INTO THE SLOTS UNTIL YOU HEAR A CLICK AND THEN SLOWLY PULL OUT. i HAD A 94 MUSTANG WITH TWO SPL 15 IN A CUSTOM SEALED BOX, AND FIT THOSE IN THERE WITHOUT REMOVING ANYTHING. i AM NOT SURE HOW MUCH THE TRUNK DESIGN HAS CHANGED, BUT AM SURE THAT IF YOU WERE TO GO TO A GOOD STEREO SHOP THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO FIGURE SOMETHING OUT FOR YOU. hAD TO PUT THE BOX IN THROUGH THE FLIP DOWN SEATS, THAT WAS THE ONLY BUMMER.

My friend originaly tried to put in a wedge shaped box with 1.5 internal cubic foot volume for a 15 inch sub. There was no way that the box would go in without pulling apart his car. That's why he opted for the split box 12's.

THE 15 INCH SUB BOX THAT WAS IN MY TRUNK WITY THE 2 SOUNDSTREAM SPL HAD THE SPEAKERS FACING THE TOP OF THE TRUNK IN ORDER FOR IT TO FIT. YOU HAD TO SLIDE THE BOX THROUGH THE BACK SEAT THE LONG WAY, AND THEN TWIST IT INTO PLACE ONCE IT WAS IN THE TRUNK. IT DEFINITELY WASN'T THE EASIEST THING TO DO, BUT WITH TWO PEOPLE IT WAS DEFINITELY MANAGEABLE.(AMAZING WHAT PEOPLE DO FOR THE BIG BOOM)THE IMPORTANT THING IS TO MAKE SURE THAT WHATEVER YOU ARE BUILDING IS GOING TO FIT THROUGH THE OPENING IN THE SEATS, AND ONCE IN THE TRUNK ABLE TO BE POSITIONED.

IT REALLY ALL DEPENDS ON THE TYPE OF MUSIC YOU LISTEN TO, AND THE QUALITY OF THE EQUIPMENT YOU ARE LOOKING INTO PURCHASING. IF YOU HAD A SET OF 10, 12, AND 15 IN THEIR RIGHT ENCLOSURES WITH THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF POWER FOR EACH YOU WOULD DEFINITELY NOTICE A DIFFERENCE IN THE SOUND. THE 15 WILL GO LOWER(MEANING THEY WILL PLAY LOWER FREQUENCIES, THAT LOW RUMBLY BASS) THAN THE 12 OR 10, AND THE SAME WITH THE 12 TO 10. IN THE RIGHT ENCLOSURE AND WITH THE RIGHT AMP YOU WOULD PROBABLY BE HAPPY WITH A SET OF 10, BUT IF YOU LIKE TO LISTEN TO REAL BASS MUSIC I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU GO WITH THE 12 OR 15. THEY HANDLE MORE POWER(ASSUMING YOU ARE COMPARING EQUAL SPEAKERS-EX. ALL KICKER SOLOBARIC L7), AND THEREFORE PROVIDE YOU WITH THE ABILITY TO USE A BIGGER AMP TO GET YOU MORE PUNCH(ASSUMING FAIRLY CLOSE SPL RATINGS BETWEEN THE SUBS). IF YOU CAN AFFORD TO GO WITH A GOOD SET OF 12 OR 15, AND CAN AFFORD TO GET THE RIGHT AMP TO POWER THEM THEN I WOULD GO FOR IT AND NOT LOOK BACK. I KNOW TOO MANY PEOPLE WHO GO AND BUY A SET OF 10 AND THEN DECIDE THEY WANT MORE BASS AND HAVE TO GET NEW SUBS. I WOULD JUST DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. BESIDES, NO MATTER WHAT YOU PUT IN THE TRUNK(BE IT 10,12, 15) , IT WILL BE RENDERED VIRTUALLY USELESS BECAUSE THEY AREN'T THAT BIG TO BEGIN WITH.

HOPE THIS HELPS.

Actually helps a lot man =) Thanks! I am def. going to go with at least 12's now. I'm really into Hardtrance/Hardhouse (since I'm a NY kid ^_^), so I want all the bass I can get.

12's in a mustang trunk.

My friend has a 4.6L V8 MUSTANG GT ( 96 i think) Convertible.

He had 2 crappy RF 10's (the shittiest 10's) in 2 sperate boxes. They hit crappy. He was using an aproximatly 150w x2 channel RockfordFosgate amp. I don't know the SPECIFICS. BUT....

I put my 2 MB quarts in his trunk, and he was slammin hella hard.

I reccomend using THIS style BOX. Not only will it fit INTO the trunk THROUGH the trunk (apposed to the back seats), but you can have room for stuff on the LEFT and RIDE SIDE for books, bags, and other misc **** some of us carry with us in a car.

I would like to ADD, the (2) 12" MB quarts in the Q Logic BOX is for sale, in the classified section .... check it out!

Whats this about carrying books?

Are we supposed to do that? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

RAYAN66, SURRENDER THE TRUNK SPACE FOR THE SUBS AND USE THE BACK SEAT FOR CARRYING STUFF. THE BACK SEAT IS TO TIGHT TO FIT SOMEONE COMFORTABLE(UNLESS ITS A HOT GIRL, AND IN THAT CASE EITHER THROW THE STUFF OUT OR LEAVE BEHIND YOUR BUDDY), SO THE STUFF YOU MENTIONED THAT YOU PUT IN YOUR TRUNK I LAYED ON MY BACK SEAT.

RAYAN66, WHAT DO YOU ROLL. PLACING A BACK PACK OR WHATEVER ON A BACK SEAT MAKES YOUR VEHICLE A MESS. I, PERSONALLY SEE A MUSTANG AS A SPORT CAR, AND THEREFORE NEVER FORSEE A NEED FOR CARRYING A SHOTGUN OR WHATEVER UNLESS I PLAN ON KILLING SOMEONE(WHICH I DON'T), AND I FEEL THAT THE DANK AND EVERYTHING ELSE SHOULD BE CARRIED UP FRONT ALSO.

Originally posted by rayan66 Books... what ever.. Your DANK, your CRACK, Your SHOT GUN, what ever. ****.. I hope you understand the POINT i was trying to make. (that there will be room left over after putting the BOX in the trunk.
The point was understood the first time.

You simply misunderstood my cheerful sarcasm. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

IMO- regardless of the sports car image- gaining a little room is good!!

Mustang trunks dont offer a lot of room. If you have a wife or girlfriend- you find that room is needed ocassionally. (NO-I didnt mean in that way!!:p )

You get what I mean.......

take it easy,
