MTX Blue Thunder amp... price and will it blow my sub?

Hi,

I've been offered a used (almost 6 years old) MTX blue thunder pro 150x2 amp. I understand this line (blue thunder) has been discontinued by MTX. I have two questions: how do blue thunder amps compare to the regular thunder amps (are they a cheaper, weaker version?), and how much do you think is a fair price for this amp? This guy wants 170 for it, which I think is a bit expensive. Thanx.

P.D. The reason i'm buying this amp is to replace an mtx blue thunder 75x2 amp that is connected to a 12" 6000 series mtx sub (it can take up to 250 watts rms). the 150x2 amp outputs 300 watts rms. If I lower the gain on the amp how much risk is there that i'll blow the sub with that amp?

the Blue thunder series are pretty nice...the 150x2 bridge will put out around 420 rms watts... as the back of the box claims... i ran 2 blue thunder 150x2 on 4 12s and it sounded pretty good...at the time i paid about 300$ each for them bt now u may find them for about 100-150....

i used to have a blue thunder sub, that **** hit really hard, so the amp is probly sweet too

very good amps back then.

I had the MTX 2100 black and gold series amp a while back and loved it.
