lol, how did i miss it? i used to do good as "the s10 guy" but all the tbi gm's like yours. first tests given codes/symptoms....
1- air cleaner. 2- fuel pressure tests, and dead-heading at the gauge will tell you right away if the pressure does not jump up in the teens right away. oh, and it doesn't constantly pump. just a couple seconds when you turn the key on, and not again until you crank it. other than that, the tps gets an ohms test, and slowly move through the range. it usually will show jumps in reading, especially at/near idle when bad. if you get it to hit a good idle, you unplug the iac valve, and if it seems to run good, but not perfect warm, then clean the pizz out of it with throttle body/intake cleaner. let it soak, and spray some more. that will help smooth the idle. the rich/lean codes, and plugging of the cc is a symptom. they should last **** near forever if they are not fed a bunch of crud. and, not having the map sensor connected, or having a leak will throw a code. injectors that do not atomize real fine mist are a tell-tale to check pressure. if it reads good dead-head, then use the t and check running. average, 100k and the fuel pump isw due for replacement, and sometimes a lot sooner, depending on the fuel you put in it, and how much idle/ low rpm/demand time on it. your cat may clean itself back out, and if it has, then it's time to check out the o2 visually and ohms, make sure everything mentioned is still in good order, and discharge your ecm memory. i've just shorted the battery cables before, and it resets ecm's, but that may damage an iffy ecm, so discharge it with the battery disconnected overnight, and it helps to do it quickly by removing it and tossing it in the freezer for 1/2-1 hour. then hook up and let it learn it's personality. you want to now a real big s-10 trick for doing major engine/******/parts work that you can't get to? unbolt the frame mounts and rock the front up and slide some 2x4 blocks under the cab to keep it up. sounds like a big thing to do, but it's really easy and quick, and gives you as much working room as a full-size.
