microphone and headset

My job is teaching me japanese from that rosetta stone place. It is an online language learning deal. Anyway, they said it would be a good idea to get a microphone. I decided, since my computer doesn't have any speakers either, I should get one of those headsets like those receptionists where. Does anyone have any suggestions? I think if any of you have used that 'voice to text' programs, perhaps those worked well.
