I building a box and i found a couple of other woods that are a hell of a lot cheaper than MDF and i was wondering if cutting costs by buying some fiber board or anything like that would be worth it.
MDF is $16 per 4'x8' sheet at Home Depot here. That is cheaper than anything else I have seen except particle board which I wouldn't even use for firewood.
You could use the fiberboard, but a couple of months down the road when it either crumbles or you get pissed and destroy it you will wish you used MDF instead. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Shut the hell up. I still a newbie at this ****, and I figured i would end up using the MDF, but i have a limited, very very very limited budget. and i'd like to cut costs any where i can.
Go ahead with paricle board if you want! MDF is just stronger. If you go with paricle board, I suggest lots of bracing, maybe some fiberglass resin to help strengthen the wood!
