my stock reciever for my 91 mazda protege is all screwed up. I drive along listening to it and the passanger front and rear speakers along with the rear driver side will go out. So i just smash the dashboard above the stereo and that shocks it back to playing on all 4 speakers.. i think its on the inside of the reiciever because it doesnt have anything wrong with the wires on the outside and there isnt dust in the connections cause i took a vaccume cleaner to the thing to get it all out even though there wasnt any. Do you guys think its a short circut and need a new reiciever and if i do where do i get one for under $150 and its good plus i dont want to smash the dash board again or i might F*ck something up (like the thing isnt already).

Thanks for any responses on what i can do

If you like the head unit that is in there now, then keep it and just check the connections on the back of the HU. You either have a loose connection or a corroding connection. A short is possible too, but I would check for loose wires first and then check for any corrosion. You could probobly find the bad wire(s) just by wiggling the wire harness on the back of the HU. If smacking the dash affects the music, then that's probobly where your problem is. If you want a new HU, then check out http://www.etronics.com , http://www.the zeb.com , or http://www.sounddomain.com .
