Do they really serve a purpose? I mean...I would think they would keep some heat in; or do the magnets even ever get hot?

Coils get hot.

And they serve no real purpose other than aesthetics.

That's what I thought guys. I usually take 'em off.

Shit, some of those things add like 5 lbs. to the subs.

Ferrite chips pretty easily. Boots provide a bit of cushion.

I always wondered about this too. my 19ov.2 has one and I had no clue what it was for, except to look cute.

yeah i liked the looks without it also, i always thought it was to keep screws from getting attached lol
