Heya, I posted this in the GD forum along with a buncha other Q's but I thought I might have a but more luck here! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have a 00 Jeep Wrangler and...

My ciggarette lighter doesnt work, not only the lighter, but the actual socket has no power, so I cant use a cell-charger or spiffy neon in my jeep (haha kidding about the neon) the main fuse box is under the hood, but I see nothing for the lighter or anything like that. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

My orginal thread is Here and it has pics of the stuff if youd like to take a gander. Any help on any of these questions would be much appriciated!

Thanks in advance

get your owners manual out... it should give a diagram out for the fuse box or boxes in your car... it should tell you where the fuse is for it... if not... take every fuse out til you find the blown one... or get a multimeter... turn the car on... and test every fuse on both sides til you find it

the car does not to be on for this. actually i would suggest not turning the car on because while multimeters are high restance to prevent any kind of wattage going though them you still might screw ti up if you test the wrong fuse. But hey good ol looking at them till you find one that is all ****ed up works everytime.

well.. some components only come on when the key is on **such as the lighter in most cars** so if you test that fuse when the car is off, it's still going to read 0 volts... but when you turn the key on then it will read 12 volts if the fuse works... if not... one side will read 12, the other will read 0

Cool - thanks for the replies... Ive been looking into buying a multi-meter cuz Ive been doing alot of installs latley, any ideas on price ranges for them?

I had a similar problem in my truck. The accessory fuse would blow every time I put one in. I finally figured out that it was my lighter so I disconnected it. I fixed it by taking the lighter out to see what was up. The case of the lighter on mine was the negative and was bent just enough to make itself touch the other part of the assembly. Once I straightened it out, and made a few little changes it worked fine. That might be it. I have no idea how it would happen though.
