Lets Class Subwoofer Brands

I just hope two 12 Q's on a Sundown 3000 will get plenty loud for my likeing.... The type R's got hella loud. I ran Two type R's on a Hifonics 2000 watt amp (BXI2006D). That was okay for me but i wanted something more.....

When Comparing the BL and the Q here are the SPL specs

BL = 88 dB

Q = 85.4

This dont seem much of a difference. If i only lose about 2.5 dB for the Q and gain lots of SQ then this would seem to be the better choice....right?

I think ima go with the q. How do you think they will sound compared to my type r? Spl wise? Sq wise?
Do you think a SAZ-3000 is too much for two fi q's with bp?

Do you think the bl still has great quality?

Remember im comparing everything to a type r b/c that is the only woofer i have experiance with....
I think the Q is a great sub. And that amp choice should be just fine for dual 12" Fi Q's IMHO. As far as a comparison to the Type R, there isn't one. The Q is better than the R in every way, shape, and form. Just my .02.

Thanks. At least it will be better than my last setup.....It better be lol. This setup is going to cost twice as much as the Two R's and the Hifonics amp. But that sounded **** good for only spending about $600 on two subs and an amp. I figure go big or dont go at all b/c if you dont go big you will only be left with wanting more......

Specs for the Q

: 481cm^2 | 481cm^2

Vas: 48.3 l | 48.3 l

Spl: 85.4dB 1W/1m | 84.8dB 1W/1m

Bl: 10.4 N/A | 15.1 N/A

Specs for the BL

cm^2 | 481cm^2

Vas: 30.9 l | 30.9 l

Spl: 88.0dB 1W/1m | 88.4dB 1W/1m

Bl: 12.8 N/A | 19.0 N/A

Is this Bolded information enough to compare SPL between the speakers?

nope....

those give you a clue as to the efficiency... but not real world output

the BL has a stronger motor, higher efficiency, and a smaller VAS so theorhetically the BL should be louder in the right application

i chose to go with sundown and im really glad i did. i was stuck between FI, DD, and sundown and im glad i made the choice i did.

sundown has probably the best customer service you'll encounter and the products are built to last. no complaints here. im unneccessarily loud for a daily setup.

Im sorry. But these funky pup jokes are getting old. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Before I finish reading the thread. Need I point out you joined this forum a month ago? They can't be that old yet.

EDIT: Sorry Simpson...you said the same thing 2 posts down.

if hes only been here a month, and hes heard enough of them for them to be old, doesnt that tell you something?

i agree. funky pup jokes = played out. give it a rest, it aint even funny anymore.

i agree, but in fairness, you are comparing a 120$ type r to 250$ fi Q. dollar for dollar, the type R holds it's own as well as any sub. comparing the type x to a Q is a much better comparison.

i have a feeling that you would have been satisfied with any of the subs you listed. good list to choose from.

uhhh, insignia...

no? seriously though this could go on forever, as there are hundreds of companies out there that take something great, and slightly modify it and call it there own.

as versatility ive gotta throw memphis out there again, as their line has some excellent diversity within it.

but im rockin the egay 8oz motor and construction paper dust caps with like 5000 watts and they are blowin other chumps out of the water

Q's won't like 1500 watts each. That is a little bit too much, even with BP power. If you have 1500 watts on hand for each sub, go with the BL. In a proper enclosure the SQ will be better than the R and much louder. The BL's shine with around 1500 watts. Proper enclosure is key.

Oh I agree. They are old. Just ripping on the guy who hasn't been here long. I have never posted the funky pup jokes, I never thought they were funny in the first place. I don't really like messing with people who don't know much.

The Q walks all over the type X, but i understand exactly what you mean. The type R is a great sub dollar for dollar. Especially SPL wise.
