Large Mid Drivers?

Some of the best sounding, most musical systems I've ever heard have been with 12" and 15" midbasses //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif There's a reason why Altec A7's and Model Nineteens are major boner items for the high-efficiency crowd...

They pretty much require active control and horns/compression drivers that can play below 1kHz confidently. That means 2" throat diameter drivers and big sectoral horns like Altecs.

Those are my monoblocks and a friend's KT88 push/pull amp running Altec biflex woofers and 811 sectoral horns, with original Altec compression drivers...really, really, good results //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Those are the best bang for the buck if you have the room, will easily drive you out of the room (so long as it isn't an amphitheater //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif ) with 10-20 watts rms...

Edit: JimJ, those amps are pure *** //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
