Depends on what your idea of "better" is. The Comp VR gets decent loud and sounds decent. The Type-S doesn't get quite as loud but sounds pretty good.

I am not sure without knowing what box they are in, but I would have to say Alpine type S in most areas, but teh Comp VR will out pound it EASILY.

I believe he's talking about the Kicker Comp, not CompVR. If thats the case, then take the type-s. A CompVR is more comparable to a Type-R.

install depandant, and userdefination of SQ which would sound better...to some,more bump in a system sound better, to some, a flat line sounds good...so....

i would get the comp vr regardless even if i wanted sq just cuz the type s is so weak sauce. don't even bring up the type e

no the new type s's are great. I just installed them in a friends cars saturday nite. He love them, BUt the SQ of it is good, and they run $150 retail.

My 12'' kicker comp is very nice for what it is sounds great and has good bass

i've heard the comp vr 18" and it sounded really..... decent. it pounded like a !%&^)% though. dont know if that helps but you know

personally, i wouldn't get either one.....

i'd get the memphis power reference....gets louder then the comps (vr or otherwise) and sounds better (totally subjective)....better warranty then both.

but if i had to choose between those two..i'd get the comp vr...then the type-s..then the comp.

check into the pr's..u can get a pair for $150 (depending on size)....best mainstream budget sub on the market!IMO

get the compvrs they are pretty nice budget subs.

the pr's are indeed extremely efficient..i have mine off 70wrms and most ppl think there is quite a bit more in my truck.

again, for the money, u can't beat the pr line of subs..IMHO
