Hey all, I have a grand am gt..99....i just got vr 6x9's in w/ xr 5.25's.....and a 300.4....all Jl products........im very impressed in the clarity.....however....i have an alpine 9835....just got it a few weeks ago...it kicks ass....but...i noticed if i put the volume up to like 22 when i listen to hip hop or rap...the 6x9's start crackling....is this normal for new 6x9's??????? the components seem to be fine though.....im not sure if i need to change a setting on my deck or what...cuz im still playing with it, but im not happy bout this noise cuz i just spend a shitload of money...any suggestions or feedback is greatly appreciated

It sounds like you need to reset your gain control on your amp for the rear channels (and maybe the front too).

1. Turn the gain control on your amp for both the front and rear channels all the way down.

2. Put in a familiar cd and turn your alpine's volume control to around 32.

3. Now, turn the gain control for your front or rear channels (only do one at a time) up until you hear distortion coming from your speakers.

4. Slowly turn down the gain until you hear the distortion go away.

I know that JL has a tutorial that gives you instructions on how to set your gain with a multi-meter and test tone. Look for it on their website.
