which of the subs would be better? 2 15" HX2 (600 watts each) or 2 15" W3's (400 watts each). I am going to power them with an MTX 81000D that is 1500 watts. I know the rockfords are 200 watts more, but i have heard a lot of good stuff about the W3s. Also, what kind of box should i put them in for the loudest sound possible? Thanx

wel i personaly think that the rockford is better but if you are goin to go with jl at least spend the extra money and get the w6

The W3s can handle a lot more than they are rated at. I have heard people say the 12w's can hadle about 600 RMS, dont know about the 15's. I would get the W3s, not W6s if you go with JL, its a waste of money. I don't know about the HX2's, when I went to my car audio store they didnt have them hooked up.

The HX2's are better than the w3's. If you like JL then I would go with the W7's. They're a bad ass subwoofer.

I love how people are already recommending the w7's. They are gonna cost a bit more than the W3, not to mention that the W3's are readily available.

hey big brad one question how do you know that the w7 is one bad ass sub they arent in production yet ass you best recognize

may be a little late, but the HXs definitely.

Had a Yukon with 3 JL 12w6s and now a Silverado with 1 HX2 10". Rockfords put out much cleaner sound. Don't get me wrong, JLs hit plenty hard, but the Rockfords are much much better.

get the JLs common the price dont lie. Anywayz rockford isent clean, smartie

W3s don't compare to HX2s. If you want JLs get W6s. If you want Rockford's get Hx2s or power Hx2s. Look at power handling. If JL w3s could handle more than what their rated than they would be rated higher. Both are good brands for sure.

Reason why JLs are rated so low is because they rate differently than nearly every other sub manufacturer. They rate for continuous play at 8 hours not how much power they can handle without blowing or melting the coil.

The 12W3 can handle over 500WRMS and then ask if that's all you got.

Not to mention they have great bass response across their rated frequency band.

ive seen this discussion over and over, and well there are RF fans and then there are JL fans. In just about every application nothing is similar. i.e. the cars boxs amps etc. But what it comes down to is the listener... Anyone can say that JL's are the best and that their car bumps and this and that, but go and listening to them yourself and take it from there. There is a difference, its just the difference you haveta make
Good luck
