dont really want to get components so here it is...got a 98 grand marquis..the speakers r in the upper portion of the door...(not at the bottom like most)...well i allready have a boston acoustic 4x6 plate w/ seperate tweeter / midbass(?)..im also going to buy a set of tweeters most likely kicker or sumtin..3/4 inch or 1 inch...going to be powered from a oldstyle rf 200a4....would this be good enough for a front stage??

p.s. i no it wont compete w/ comps but need advice anyhow...thx

hmmm, personally I wouldn't have a 4x6 plate in my front sound stage. I think the specs on your Grand Marquis are 6x8's (aka 5x7's) because Ford MoCo LOVES using 6x8's in their vehicles. I have a '96 Taurus with 6x8's and an '04 Mazda 6s with 6x8's in the rears. If you must use 4x6 plates then you might need to adapt them a bit to make them work in the stock openings. I have some BA stuff from my old system and it sounds pretty nice so there's nothing wrong with them.

As for your tweets, unless you know what the stock size is go with 3/4 inch because I in my '96 ford the stock tweets were 1.5" but in my '04 Mazda the tweets were only 3/4" so my BA components were relegated to the rear. Unless you know what your car will take the smaller tweeter will at least fit in your vehicle where as the larger one may not, in the case of my Mazda.

ur right i do have 5x7 up front...but.....due to the fact that i already have the 4x6's and the way the door is set up.. when the door is closed half the speaker are covered up by the dash.if that makes sense...so i figure im gunna make a custom bracket ,throw the 4x6 plate in there then the tweeter will go above it while being flush mounted on the door panel..this also saves me some $...thx for the help
