Is there such thing as a 6x9" midbass driver? (without tweeter, just a cone)

Im wondering because i know that you only really want your mids and highs coming from your sound stage (front of the car) and midbass and bass dont matter too much where they come from. And also know that most of you will just recommend getting 6.5" midbass drivers, but I'm only asking this out of curiousity.

I would have to disagree. If I could get my sub in the front of the car I probably would, but in most cars there is no room for that. I believe that’s why subs have over time evolved into the trunk of the car because of room.

Really, it’s best to have all your sound coming from the front of the car, that way it sounds more like a real “stage”.

If you are looking to just up grade your rear speakers that’s fine, but the money might be better spent on upgrading the front speaks first (if not all ready done). A lot of people don’t even run their rear speakers and even if they do it’s just to add depth to the sound of the front speakers at a lower volume. Keep reading all you can and you will see.

Although you are correct as lower frequencies are less directional than highs. So placement is not so important. But they are still directional!

Have fun!

Fossil99ca is correct. Bass and especially midbass are really important to your front stage. It has been said many times before, you can't have a front stage with the snare drums and cymbols in front of you (with the rest of the band), and have the kick and bass drums behind you.

Don't get me wrong, a 12" is hard to place in front of you most of the time, but bass up front is the way to go. Alot of people say that crossing over your subs at 80Hz and your midbass at 80Hz will make ths sub sound omnidirectional, but I crossed my 15" (sealed box) at 40Hz with a 24db slope and I still could tell where the low notes were coming from.

I finally put my 8"s infront / under my front seats, soundstage sounds wonderful.

Keep the bass up front.

yeah i know that too but theres not too much that you can do... if you read my sig you'll see i have midbass drivers in the doors and infinity perfects in kickpods... right now i have stock rears but im gonna pull them when i do my sub set up so the ports of the box will go through the speaker holes

thanks for the link acidburn
