Is there any way to match vinyl?

I'm going to try my hand at some a-pillar pods for my 96 camry. None of the stores around here carry a vinyl color close enough to use so I plan on just ordering it online. I've checked out select products and I think they may have a color that works but it's really tough to know for sure without holding it in my hand. So, my question is, is there anyway to match vinyl for sure or is it just a hit or miss process? Thanks!
