Installing Sucks

At first installing is a pain. I used to loathe installing HU's, amps, taking off stock panels. Once you've practiced enough, these things become second nature and in most cases frustration is oddly absent.

I think there's a tool out there that'll pull them for you. I use my hands and they always get cut up. I used a little nut picker the other day, worked pretty well actually ... little metal guy rod with a thin scoop on one end that you scrape out nuts with. Worked well. Sort of.

Usually I just yank on the pannel really hard until they srtip out..... then replace it with a new one when I'm done. Those little suckers are cheap.

I install at a shop. Thats how i make my living. Everything everyone has said is absolutely correct. It can be very frustrating at times, but it is a very rewarding process in the long run. If i get a big install to do at work, its aggravating after several hours of previous installs, but when its done, and the customer is happy its all good. My own vehicle always tends to take a back seat to work, so that kinda sucks. A new system for the ride is in the works though. My hands already hurt thinking about the sanding ahead of me. Oh well.. Im vearing off the topic. Anyway, I enjoy it, its what i do, so it all turns out good in the long run.

Today I spent 4-5 hours putting a gallon of spectrum just in my trunk, and moving my amp hot of sight i.e crating a whole new spot behind my back seat. All this was after a 10 hour day at work.I was sort of ticked it took so long to get all this done, but once i got everything cleaned up, and cranked it up for a few, I could definately tell a difference. It was fun too concidering I've never sound deadened before .

It's a love hate thing. I have been in the process over the 4th weekend running a 4GA Amp wiring kit, CDT Comps, and then installing the amp. 4 hours is nothing. I probably spent that on my door panel with the dremel making things fit just right.

i hate those cuts, specially the ones that u dont notice till later and u drip a lil blood on the ground lol. i had a "blood towel" once, yah u read that right i didnt notice for like 20mins and hand was covered in blood and jus had to have a towel on hand to wipe it clean every few mins

Well put in another 4 hours or so of blood, sweat, and tears. Got the components in and this time I took the advice of this forum and placed dynamat behind the them. I hope it will make a difference. Not much space to place dynamat so I doubled up and put it on the back side of the panel as well. As much as I could anyway. So now I got the wiring done, head unit, speakers mounted, just need to do amp, crossovers, and sub. Technically I shouldn't have to tune cause it's the same car with almost the same set up, but I don't know if Alpine memorizes settings if you remove the headunit from the vehicle. Hmm, new forum topic.

there is nothing like jus finishing a setup.

personaly i like doing install's but yes it can get agrivating at times.
