Install Questions: Panasonic VA707WEUC

I could use some help installing my Panasonic VA707.

I got this unit from my brother, who downgraded his system in his car.

He sent me what he claims is everything that came out of his car.

However, he forgot to send me the "subconnector".

According to Panasonic's online user manuals, it seems that unless you are using the navagation system, this cable is not necessary.

It does have a cable called the "Video Control Lead", but the unit specifies it is "not used".

However, after I plugged in the control unit and the control lead to the display, the LCD does not work.

Everything else works, but I cannot see anything on the display unit.

Do I need the "subconnector" (I can buy it on panasonic's website if necessary), and if I do need it can someone tell me how it connects to the control lead, when on panasonic's website it specifically specifies not to connect it to the Control unit.

I also know that the box got kind of beat up on shipment, could it be that my LCD is busted? Keep in mind that EVERYTHING else works except the LCD (which I know is the biggest part).

Thanks in advance,

Nick

For the 5 or so of you who have looked at my post...I would like to provide a little more info for you:

I talked with Panasonic, and they confirmed that my problem is not the subconnector. They told me that that connector is mostly designed for the addition of a navigation system.

However, they did suggest one good point:

This device requires A LOT of power! My batterie lead is being split many times to handle other devices such as my cigarette lighter and my AC control unit. If the monitor does not have enought power to turn on the LCD then the LCD will not work.

I am going to test out this theory by plugging the unit directly into the batterie when I get home today, and I will report back what I find.

well running the batterie lead did not fix the problem.

At this point I am sending the unit into a registered panasonic repair shop. I can only hope that the problem is a simple wiring problem and not a blown LCD (which will be an expensive fix).
