In Your Opinion, Would You Get A Battery Or A High Output Alternator?

I have a 2003 Cadillac Escalade with the 6.0L.

Ok, I have the big 3 done with 0 AWG Welding cable and grounded properly. I have a Sears Die Hard Platinum AGM (Odyssey) under the hood and I have a run of 0 AWG welding cable to my amp.

As far as equipment, I have a Soundstream DTR.3400 wired up to an 18" AA D2 Havoc and it's running at 1 Ohm (2,200 watts peak).

At the amp, there is a voltage drop to 12v here and there but mostly it's around 12.8-13.3 with the big hits.

I'm thinking a HO Alternator...? Would a 200 amp Alternator suffice or spend the extra $50.00 and get a 270 amp.

The main problem I have it my lights dimming.

Only an extra 50 for the 270? Wow. Yeah do that.
I will but it's between brands... If I go the alternator route, I'm going with Tenney. He's a new startup with a lifetime warranty. Seems promising.

I'd rather save the $50.00 if I could get away with a 200 amp. It's 135 amps at idle I believe.

200 Amp will do just fine.
Iagree.. 200 amp suits my setup fine, and I'm pushing more double the RMS that you are.. Once again Im gonna bring out the haters but, DB Electric has worked great for me with their alts, and they're short money.Hope i Helped.. I am running dual yellow tops front to back as well, but I've had a lotta luck with DB's.. EXCEPT THE ONE I'm married too! lol

id do the biggest you can afford but iirc as i dont do welding cable for my wire i think they say that 2/0 of welding cable is really only 0 gauge and so forth so wouldnt 0 gauge be 4 gauge since its half? not sure as i dont have welding cable thats just what i read

Welding wire is true to size most car audio wire is oversized..

0 gauge welding wire is true American 0 gauge wire, most in care audio are just spoiled

So my voltage drop is fine?

My lights dim. It *****. I want to feed the DTR clean...

A battery wouldn't stop the dimming... Maybe I'll just go with a 270 by tenney. I think they're 170 at idle. Wonder what the 200a is at idle...
