how can u tell if wiring are 4 guage or not....

and wat other ones are there?

i got some old wire from a used car i bought, the previous owner just left it underneath the carpet.....

well, first of all, there are all kinds of gauge wires. but if your talking power wire, there are really only 4 or 5 types. 0 gauge, 2 gauge, 4 gauge, 8 gauge, and 10 gauge. 4 gauge is typically what you will proly want unless you have a pretty small amp in which case you may go with 8, and 2 or 0 gauge is only gonna be for big a.z.z amps. telling the difference is pretty easy. first of all, its proly written somewhere on the wire, and 2nd, 4 ga wire is proly 1 mil thick in diameter, 8 ga is proly a 1/2 mil thick in diameter. its proly one of those 2.

my bad, i need to correct myself, i dont know my metric measurments, 4 gauge is proly around a CM thick in diameter, 8 gauge is proly around a 1/2 a CM thick in diameter. sorry bout that.
