Trust me, I'm a doctor
This is what Nick had to say about how the Mag's power handling is rated:
"We rate our products slightly above what the coil would actually be rated if we were to use the EIA testing method, which is the method in which almost all high-fidelity home audio drivers are rated at (Morel, Scan Speak, LPG, etc). The coil can take a LOT more than what we rate it at (keep in mind that it is 3" diameter - which fits over a Coke can with ease - and the windings are almost 2.5" tall). 1200 watts all day with music isn't a problem. 1500 watts with pure sine waves for hours on end is another thing, but music usually has changes in it. But anyway, we like keeping with the hi-fi rating system. 'no need to inflate numbers just to sell our product. Ask any rep or anyone on virtually any stereo forum and you'll get responses back about how much the Magnum's can actually handle.
Daily driving, 1500 watts rms, the Magnum's could hold their own for years...literally.
The number you got with the Magnum is very respectable IMO. A single vented 12 doing mid 140's is about average for our subs. Specialty vehicles put up higher numbers, but then again, they should (like the 150 in SStoner's car). They have a lot of potential and considering how good they sound I think that's an excellent number."
