This is what Nick had to say about how the Mag's power handling is rated:

"We rate our products slightly above what the coil would actually be rated if we were to use the EIA testing method, which is the method in which almost all high-fidelity home audio drivers are rated at (Morel, Scan Speak, LPG, etc). The coil can take a LOT more than what we rate it at (keep in mind that it is 3" diameter - which fits over a Coke can with ease - and the windings are almost 2.5" tall). 1200 watts all day with music isn't a problem. 1500 watts with pure sine waves for hours on end is another thing, but music usually has changes in it. But anyway, we like keeping with the hi-fi rating system. 'no need to inflate numbers just to sell our product. Ask any rep or anyone on virtually any stereo forum and you'll get responses back about how much the Magnum's can actually handle.

Daily driving, 1500 watts rms, the Magnum's could hold their own for years...literally.

The number you got with the Magnum is very respectable IMO. A single vented 12 doing mid 140's is about average for our subs. Specialty vehicles put up higher numbers, but then again, they should (like the 150 in SStoner's car). They have a lot of potential and considering how good they sound I think that's an excellent number."

Don't get me wrong though the xxx is the finest sub I've ever owned I will say that, very low distortion, incredible SQ, with a powerful front stage I would prefer it over the magnum, but since I switched cars I don't have the 8" dedicated midbass's up front with 1000w to them!!! and for anyone its a VERY loud sub and all the way up to its full potential sounds the same and isn't producing much distortion at all. With a 2000w amp, in a 4 cube enclosure tuned around 30hz LOOK OUT!!!

The Magnum of course is a regular old SGlC design and as you push it harder it will produce more and more and more distortion (I'm sure to some VERY VERY high levels

near its full potential) and I'm sure BL has hit the floor by then and Q is very high! But all in all a fun sub, to get lower distortion go ported (less cone movement) and use 2!!!!!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif But don't use twice the power, use like 1500w on 2 of them and they will get REALLY loud and still maintain relatively low distortion.

Ye I really like the XXX and it doesn't cost much more for the XXX12 than the Mag. Seems like mst people port their subs but I thnk i'll just gonna the XXX in my 1.2ft^3 sealed box. I think that should do fine. If not I will have to build my own box. I always wanted to try a ported box.
I thought you were getting an SX..... don't tell me I wasted my time on those plans...

Lol this thread is getting kind of old. I got interested in the SX after this. Those **** RE people are ou of SX15s and said they wont get any for 3 weeks and that it woud cost $290 shipped to CA when this guy I know got his for $260 shipped to NY. The RE guy said that it cost more because they are on backorder, but I think they should charge less since I want one and they don't hve one. Either way, I don't think the price should go up. I think it should be slightly less because I am closer to RE HQ. But anyways, that sounds like sum BS IMO. I'm gonan talk to the SI guys because it sounds like they have more "integrity" than the RE guys. As for Jemorgan, I might just use the same plans. I will talk to you on AIM, if you think I should use a different box then I'll pay you for some new plans.

what amp would one use to feed those 2000wrms to the magnum? So if I would lets say only feed 1500wrms to either sub from bx1500d, xxx would be better choice, correct? feeding 1500wrms to xxx wouldnt turn heads at stoplights? (i wouldnt do that too often //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
