Accuracy is being true to the original waveform (the sum of the vibrations produced by the original sound being recorded). That is, the recording, the source unit, the amplifier, the cabling, and the driver CANNOT distort the audio signal, or else the sound is no longer accurate. But, the ear can handle a bit of distortion (some say 1-2%) before it can be heard.

Transient response relates to the driver's behaviour when it receives an input signal. This is basically the driver's step response, if I remember correctly. Something like this: Step response chart for a tweeter

And "punchiness" is often what an underdamped subwoofer is described as. You can make any sub punchy at the expense of lower-bass reproduction (i.e. under 30Hz).

Should I go sealed or ported though? Remember, I listen to hadcore/emocore/alternative (stuff with fast bass drums). I don't listen to rap at all!. So sealed or ported?

Vented enclosures, when built properly, definitely put out more SPL than sealed boxes. As for sound quality, well, the stuff that's being played from these subs isn't too clean anyway, but some people prefer the sound of a sealed box over that of a vented one.

Both are amazing subs but if you are planning on getting the XXX, you should plan on porting it. The XXX doesnt do itself justice untill its in a ported enclosure.

I'll keep that in mind. I was thinkin about building my own box. Also, Ecko072Unltd was telling me his SX is awesome so maybe I should go check that out? Also, if I were to get a SX or XXX what should I tune the box to for good SQ? I was thinking around 30hz? Tell me what you think. Thx

I've owned both subs and don't own either now. I am going to buy another one of them though and I can tell you i can pretty much buy any of these subs, price makes no difference to me. I will be getting a Magnum 15" (again)

The magnum is WAY louder with 2000w. Magnum has WAY more bass above 40hz. Magnum is cheaper (for those who do care about cost), Magnum is better for music like Trance, house, etc. where the xxx just doesn't have the upper bass impact to do it.

You won't get a xxx to pound you teeth out with 1500w either. I had 2000w or so on mine and it was loud but not that loud.

I had the magnum 15" tuned to around 35hz for a while with 35 square inches of port and OMFG was that loud and clear!!!!

I have to say the xxx is probably more accurate but an incredibly accurate sub is not what most people think it is goin to sound like. Its a mellow sound, with no super rock hard upper bass impact like the magnum (which is probably more realisitc to real life). I find that everyone that is into bass that got into my car (not big time SQ guys) 100% prefered the magnum over the xxx besides bass below 35-40hz because it is a monster below 40hz thats for sure. Magnum is at least 2-3 times more efficient.

With 2kw people were turning their heads to me at every stop like like WTF WAS THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with the magnum ported, with the xxx it got loud but not enough to turn heads. But I did prefer it for total raw SQ, but its in no way a "fun" sub IMO, cept for deep lows.

as you can see i am not biased in any way. I can buy just about any sub I want no problem and the Magnum is probably my favorite. H2 was pretty inefficient for my taste, and needed eqed ALOT ported to get it to sound really good. Sealed it was great. But you need alot of power to get it SUPER loud, and with that kind of power it'll blow so you need 2 IMO.

I wonder why the nominal RMS power handing is 950W for the 15" Magnum D2...

The sensitivity of the 15" XXX is 88.7db/1W@1m. The sensitivity of the Magnum D2 is 91.7db/1W@1m. Almost twice as efficient.

once you place a sub in an enclosure its a whole different story. i can tell you now that if I swapped in a xxx 15" right now and powered it up with any music and blasted it you would be like "wow thats friggin awesome!" Then switched for a Magnum in the same enclosure and powered it up with the same power you would be lik OMFG That is REALLY ******* LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

magnum actually has more coil than any of the xbl^2 subs so realistically it should handle more power thermally than the brahma, xxx, H2 etc. and probably does.

Everyone that runs the maggys pretty much runs 1200w-2500w on it no problem. Its an awesome sub. Eventually more people will try it and word will get out. The 15's are just incredible ported for SQL, i've never heard the 12's though. Thats why there is such a frenzy over getting the 15's back in stock. People that have heard them want them NOW. In a ported enclosure I'm betting the Magnum could take the xxx with any amount of power, since it can handle more. IMO at least. But like I said it is a very accurate sub, but not very musical (musical IMO are the funnest subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ) the xxx that is.
