i think i reached the limit of my ears

wow thats nice to hear cause i jsut brought 2 9510 with a memphis 2400 amp in a 2000 firebird so how do you think that would sound i cant wait . car in the paint shop but really i dont wanna lose my hearing although if i do i dont have to listen to my wife dayummm nagging lol

you only have one set of ears, once your hearing is gone thats it. be safe wit your systems. u only have one life enjoyed it to the fullest but don't get so caught up in today that u forget about tomorrow.

I feel like you should be able to turn up your system all the way and not be able to comfortably drive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I also thing that most of the fun comes from hearing and having different setups, and not just hearing some guy with 6,000 watts hit 158db. Sure, it's fun to do sometimes, but just not practical.

I just enjoy buying one setup, selling it a few months down the line, and getting some new subs. Fun to hear what you can do, since most of it's in the install.

Well as to the earplugs in with the system up...how are you to hear an approaching ambulance or firetruck that you don't see? In those scenarios you are messing with other people's very chances of survival.

I know I wouldn't want the ambulance carrying my mom to the hospital to hit someone who had their system up and was wearing earplugs all beacuse they couldn't hear the sirens....

Which really makes me wonder if we should not have hearing tests as part of the driving test....

btw - 158 is the classic termpro not the new...

Doing a 151.6 right now in my daily driver on the new TL. Add ~8 to that number for the classic TL.

Hearing is a really nice thing to have. I marched snare in h/s for 4 years and vanguard cadet corps last year. Next year I plan to do a corps if I don't get cut. A while ago I got scared because my ears were cutting out when I was at a concert because of playing snare. However, my ears haven't done that in a long time. If your system is tuned very clean and you have very balanced highs you can withstand a lot more than clipping subs with cranked highs. However, 158db is insane. You're seriously going to be having hearing problems in the immediate future if you keep running your system that loud. However, having a comp spl car doesn't mean you have to have your system cranked while you're in it. You can always keep your vol low for the daily drive but at the comps crank it while you're outside of the car to get that 158db+. Anyways, good luck with your hearing and the spl comps. Peace.

My thoughts exactly.

Also one thing I noticed is that at low frequencies, the ear plugs did nothing for me other than to occlude the mids and highs - my ears still hurt after burping, just as much as without the earplugs.

that's because the wavelengths of low frequencies are so large that overcome almost any object through their way.
