Box builder in distress

Guest
I'm building a box for an Infinity Kappa perfect 12.1D and I need some help.

First. Are there varying types of wire conector caps for the box. I have an old box and would like to use the one from that box. Would it work?

Second. The sub recomends about 1 cubic foot and I don't know if the volume of the box should use the outside measurements or the inside. Acounting for the thickness of the wood does make a difference.

Third. The mounting depth of the sub is 6.5". Does this mean that from the top edge of the box (including the thickness of the wood) needs to be at least 6.5", or should I leave a little room?

And my last question. How many inches should there be around the edge of the sub. In other words, can I make the piece of wood where the sub mounts 13x13, or do I need more space such as 17x17.

first: any type of wire connector will work, but, the better the connector the less chance of any power loss.

second: the 1 cubic foot recomendation refers to the INTERIOR dimensions of the box (excluding the space consumed buy the sub itself) - you will be better off if you use 3/4" MDF. cubic feet can be determined with the following formula (all measurements in inches)... "(H x W x D) / 12"

third: there are many different schools of thought regarding box shape, however, for simplicity's sake... make the face of the box(where the sub is mounted) about 1-2 inches larger than the opening for the sub... make sure there is clearence behind the sub... and by using the above formula, play around with some measurements to determine the proper size and shape of the box.

and remember to seal (caulk) the box to make it airtight!!!!!

good luck and good listening!

the formula for determing cuft is L x H x W / 1728

example 10" x 10" x 10" = .58 cuft

if u divide by 12 you get 83.33 cuft

that's a pretty BIG box!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

hope that gets ya there
