I Got The Best Set Up For Reg/cab

i know mine is a full size xtended cab, but have you guys had it where you open a door and your system gets really loud? my port is facing the drivers side, but when you open up the passenger door, it seems(feels) like it gets twice as loud. any cures?

 
a friend of mine who is into comps says that what i could be experiencing has to do with cancellation. with the port being where it is the sound waves move from left to right and back to front. with the door closed the waves have to back on themselves running into the next set of waves,hence, cancellation. when i (you) open the doors the waves are allowed to continue on so all you hear are the new waves on their way out. make sense? he suggests no cures, says it is the nature of the beast. what you all think? is he right or wrong? zane anybody with alot of knowledge,a little help?

 
my friend has an 80's chevy s-10 with 2 kove armagedons with a memphis 1000d going to each and a studio 300 on a set of alpine components ...it did over 150 =) before he upgraded the electrical system.

 
Well I think he is somewhat right. I took physics class in high school and I did pretty good so here is my explanation. What you are talking about also happens in cars, I notice my car gets louder with the windows rolled down and/or door opened up. The reason this happens is because things absorb waves. So your truck being small in size, is absorbing a lot of sound waves, so I'm sure with the sound waves bouncing back and forth (and into new waves) yes that can cause cancellation. So some sound waves are being absorbed, and some are "cancelling out". It's basically like putting a cloth over your mouth and trying to talk, your sound waves don't go as far, but when you take it off, your voice is louder, kind of like when you open your door, there is more space for air to flow and waves to travel. I'm sure their probably is someway to eliminate some of the cancellation, but not sure how to. You could do research if your really interested, maybe invent something people will buy into. But as long as your airspace is limited, that also limits the range in which your sound waves travel.

 
see i always thought because the sound waves are pressure and pressure will not go from a large area to a small area, when the doors are open the pressure will go into the larger area
