HU reccomendation for '03 volvo s40

I have a 2003 Volvo S40 with the stock radio/cd player in there. for some reason it's skipping a lot, and it's a crappy thing in general hehe, so I want a new one.

I was looking on a few sites and trying to figure out what would fit in my car, but every site said they didn't have anything that fit or no info. It's a big cd player unit right now, but can someone tell me what would fit in there? Would most anything work or only a few specific models? I was looking at some pioneer and alpine models, but I wanted to see what would fit first..thanks
