how do you guys deal with oil changes........

What I usually do is steal someones license plates, then I make sure I drive AT LEAST 200 miles from where I live and then give them an alias when they ask for me info.. it is also helpful to have a fake ID with this info just in case you need it, you can never be too sure.

This allows you to not be identified at all, I was getting a little paranoid so I drive about 400 miles now just to make sure but it is probably a little bit overkill. I would say if you are in TX driving to New Mexico for your oil change would be a good choice.

Just take it to a shop. If they manage to jack your stuff, it's not like you can't just go back and talk to the manager... but seriously, who would jack a system in the course of an oil change, and then have someone lined up to take it off to their place, so that it doesn't stay at the shop?

I remember the days when I had a minitruck. I use to fear getting a flat for the same reason. It would take a jack, and several bricks to work it back up high enough to get the tire on and back off.
I also wasn't as worried about the minitruck dropping to the floor because it had very little to fall.
I hate carrying a fricken floor jack around with me though. I really need to get a truck toolbox.

umm shops dont usaully let customers do that because of insurance reasons, they break off mirrors and run over lifts, let me guess you are one of the retards that works at the local quick lube and forgets to put oil back in the engine, I have been working at car dealerships for 9 years asshat
actually i'm an army qualified helicopter mechanic. I do my own car work. when i do take my car to a shop (tire/exhaust) i drive it on the lift. never had any problems, and if the guy insists that he drive my car on the lift then so be it. has never happened.

well yippy skippy for you, most shops dont, if they get hurt its a big insurance issue

I am curious how your experience as a helicopter mechanic provides you with the background of driving a car on a lift and why such an establishment would accept that as credible experience.

But if they let you, then they let you.

I wasn't talking to said people. I was talking to superman dude that could change a car with nothing but a jack and a crescent wrench.
(That's why I quoted him) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Flip's and the others had very logical explanations.
Here are "superman dudes" exact words.. "Oil change = remove one bolt on the pan, drain, put new filter on and then replace the bolt. As for tire rotation.. Your car comes with the tools needed for that task. So really, all you need is a cresant wrench. And you'd save about $30-$50.."

Now, you point out where I limited it to "a jack and a cresent wrench". You completely overlooked what I was saying, therefore you ended up with the conclusion you're now at.. Comprehend. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
