Hey guys, I have an alpine MRP-F240 amp that can be ran at 2/3/4 channels. The amp specs are:

40 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms

50 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms

100 watts RMS x 2 bridged output at 4 ohms

At 4 ohms 0.08% THD

At 2 0.3 THD

My friends got 2 5.25s that can take 40w Rms and 2 6x9s that can take 50w rms.

The amp says it is 3 channel capiable. Can I run the 5.25s at 4 ohms off channel 1 and 2 and bridge channel 3 and 4 together to give the 6x9s a combined power of 100w rms (50 per channel) at 2 ohms? Thanks!

i have that amp and it wouldnt like 2 ohms while bridged

just hook the 6 x 9's to ch 3/4 seperatelyso each channel is powering 1 speaker and call it good.

The audible difference for the 6x9's when going from 40 to 50 watts is almost nil.

Just hook them up normally and all will be well.

PS- Alpine amps are slightly underratted so that 40 watt rating is probably closer to 50 anyway.
