Hooking up an extra battery-

Use 0/1 gauge wiring. Use an isolator, if you plan on playing the system with the engine off. Else, use the same spec batt (bought at the same time) and just hook it up, plus to plus, minus to minus.

 
That's it? Why was I thinking it needed to be wired straight to the alt?
Well, it would be wise to upgrade the wire that leads from primary batt to alt. If you've got plenty of wire left, then use a 0/1 gauge..but like me, at such a short distance from alt to primary batt, I figure 4 gauge is more than enough for even a 200A alt.

There are some who choose to fuse the wire that runs from batt to alt. I didn't fuse mine, didn't think I'd need to, seeing htat the original wire isn't fused either.
