hello everyone. i know this is a car forum but this pertains to my alpine type-s. im running that baby in my room at 4 ohms, but the amp is only supposed to be doing 8 ohms. what is a good integrated amp for 4-ohm apps? i really need some help on this, cause i fried my last integrated amp. if u dont know, an int amp is a receiver with an amp in it.

FYI,

Integrated amps are not receivers with amplifiers... receivers already have amplifiers. Integrated amps are receivers without tuners. They do this to eliminate any interference between the tuner and amp circuits.

As maylar said, many decent receivers can handle 4 ohms. My Yamaha has a switch in the back to allow it to handle 4 ohms.

whoops! thought i knew what i was talkin about. then again, mine doesn't have a tuner and my dad's 7.1 hometheater one does. hmm ok. but anyway, what is a good one for 4 ohm apps under 130 if possible?

aight i think i narrowed it down enough. this looks like the puppy right here. it's got good power (300 watts) ohm load (4-8) and made by a great brand (onkyo) i hope this is it, and it has a 2 year possible warranty on it. somebody review this and tell me if its a good amp for my type-s.

just a note, i won't buy it off crutchfield, they just have the necessary spec information.

i use a NAD C320 home amp which is 40watts per channel at 8ohms. but i run 4ohms speakers on the with no problem, i think any good quality amp will do the job.

it just means the power rating of the amp will double so, you friend firend probably just fried the amp without realising he was putting double power in the amp

it looks good jmac, but how do i switch between my tuner and cd player? is that what those rca ports are for? otherwise, it looks real nice.

Well, that's a sub amplifier ... Here's how it works ... The home receiver isn't intended to drive a subwoofer itself, so it should have RCA outputs to send the signal to a separate amplifier for the subwoofer. If you look on the back of the receiver, you should see a label like, "Subwoofer Out" like it does on my receiver (Technics SA-DX940). Simply run an RCA cable from the sub-out to the left Line In on the amplifier.
There are several more amplifiers on that site. I just threw that one out there because it's the cheapest //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

no see, i don't have a receiver anymore. i blew it remember? and it didn't have a sub out jack anyway. so, i just want to get a good quality receiver with like 100 watts at least. would 100 watts to a 1040 type-s still be loud?

yeah lol pretty much. i gon need some caaaash! well, i have like a gallery of speakers in my room, so i think i will sell some to make an all out system.

yo i found a good buy i think. is sherwood a good brand? it puts out 210 watts. is sherwood like rockwood? (rockford fosgate+kenwood=rockwood)
