high end hu

iv recently become the proud owner of a new bmw, and iv decided not to transplant the head unit from my old car. iv been out of the loop for a long time now , as far as car electronics go, so id appreciate some help. what high end head unit would you recommend in the 400-1000 (market, not msrp price) dollar price range . id like the face to be compatible w/one of the satellite radio systems. unit quality and sound quality are important to me.

check out some of the new pioneers or alpines decks. Most of them are XM radio ready.

I've got an Alpine 7977 feeding to a JL Audio 300x4 with XM Radio (The Alpine Modulator, not the FM ones...)...I've been nothing but happy as a clam with that HU. I bought it for 525$ but the prices probably have dropped, as I think that Alpine's new line is out for this year and that was last year's model. Anyways, I'd highly recommend that HU, I have no problem turning that up to max with absolutely no clipping. The only thing this lacks is MP3 support, but it's got everything else anyone could possibly want. If your looking for satellite radio btw, Alpine's probably your best bet, cuz the other distros use FM modulators so you can hear the signal. Essentially it converts the digital signal to analog so you can hear it on your radio. Alpine's box keeps it as digital, so there is no quality loss....good luck...

Go with the new eclipse.Is the best and has always. They don't offer a 3 year warranty for nothing. The top of the line is around 850 and has all the things you want including 8volt preouts if you want to hook up amps at later time. EXCELLENT sound quality, none better

i'd say the alpine even though they my least favorite deck lol ... i install pioneer and sony had bad out of box from both ..... aside from that pioneer is awesome too but i think the da converters and outputs are a lil cleaner on the alpine
