Hey Zane. Check this out. JL VS. Kicker Head To Head. Cannot beat the facts.

I say that between those two speakers the Adire Audio subwoofer is insanely cool. 28MM one way excursion and 1,600 Watts RMS?! That is godly!!! I would sure like to hear the roar out of one of those. Maybe the next trend in subwoofers is more excursion. That would be cool if companies started competing to have the best. I wonder what some of them would turn out like... *Thought bubble* *50.0MM One-Way Excursion*... *Drool*

Nope- it was David Clark. Take a look at his website here:

Allthough, I understand why you questioned if this was rather Richard Clark and David Navone- they are both ones just as likely to come up with something this cool!

Take it easy,

best sub? is this a purist talking or a spl freak? everyone has ears...everyone has their own taste. personally i find the kickers a bit mechanical sounding (spl-ish but i know the set up has alot to do with that) while the jl's tend to be a little bassy but still can be VERY musical. personally i think either or can be "set-up" to do about anything you want but having owned about 32 prs of different woofers i would say my old idw 15's were my fav lol but again set up is almost more important than the woofer cause you cant have one without the other.   P.S. sensitivity doesn't really mean jack.........the parameters of which it is being used mean ALOT more sensitivity does not = volume

Go figure at least I didnt call you a morom only to have eat a little crow...The creativity of those two should be enough to question just about everything we think we know. I never really followed Dumax testing I listen (read) what others have to say then take what info I can with me when I go and listen to the subs that I am able b4 making any decisions...

Audiolife..I am a firm believer in how the system sounds is 90 percent install and the other 10 percent is in the enclosure..Ever notice its the little things that make or break a good system? This doesnt mean I don't agree with you just another perspective to consider.

Mike

well in a sub woofer sense the encloser is part of the install unless you be doin that free air thing lol and the art of choice to make the most out of what you have......... either being a true hi-fi system or a spl monster all the ideas and thought put behind whatever it is that you do is still confined to the parameters and acoustic charactoristics of that vehicle no?

all i can say is(this is an opinion)

(best)15"L7 vs. (3rd best)15"W3 ........ stealmate (equal)

15"L7 vs. w6 or w7 .......L7, checkmate...

JL wins

I concede your point. Some are cars are just inherantly better for certain applications whether it be SPL or SQ. Just offhand I do question stuff once in a while just for other points of view.. Now and then its cool because someone will have a unique idea that may be applied to whatever install or project I happen to be working on..

yup yup keys natural transfer function of a car determins this hehe. yup i am new to the board but i am no "newbie" to the stereo world. in '97 i finished 4th at springbreak nationals, 2nd at midwest regional...lost to the eventual world champ, and at finals i tried to use an amplifier as a line driver (heheh) sounded very good until my inputs to my horn amp went bye bye. it worked very very well for 5 hours or so and i had already beat 3 out of the 5 top finishers at on time or another it just ****** running low on my battery then poof. i work retail in audio as well, and i have also been an owner of an audio distributorship and a factory rep. again an l-7 being "better" than a w3? what are the ways you are using the speaker? parameters...are you buying a q logic box and stuffin them in? is this for spl or sound quality? as i have seen w3's do both at a very high level 5- 15's doing high 160's-low 170's as well as sound q, as for each speakers design motor structure would go towards the w3 (and yes it seems to be "easier to drive") while cone area is in favor of the l-7. i base this on having seen customers have both and looking at the set ups they in turn have. it seems to take a larger amp to drive an l-7 and to me all but one car i heard them in sounded mechanical and that was mark eldridge's (and yes i know its a suv!!!). as a tweeker at heart i must say i would take a great sounding woofer and make a humper out of it before i would take a humper woofer and make it sound good....one was built for one thing as was the other, but if it goes in my system it will be balanced.

i love the way these threads go- comparing one of kicker's best series's the L7 to JL's W3 series, what a joke, i could have told you kicker would have beat the W3 without all that research. Match it up a bit, get a better series JL in the comparison the see who the real winner is.

and if you think i am talking biased...................yes i am a proud JL W7 owner and will stick with them for a while

Look at the date of this thread.

You ****ing tard.

this thread is useless

the person doing the comparing forgot to mention the L7 sub comes apart at the voice coil and cone and spider attachments.......and the 15w3 can handle 800watts daily..i've tried it and it sounded insane...and last but not least......u cant mutiply milli meters with inches...u can multiply millimeters with millimeters and inches to inches....i dont know how he got his info.......and the cone area is so wrong.......the cone area is measured by the effective pistion area and a third of the surround....not pie...lol be4 comparing get the specs from kicker and jl audio tech reps first
