Help with Tuning frequency

hey

what is the benifit of having a low or high tuning frequency, for my sub its says to use 3.0 cu ft @ 35Hz what is this tuning frequency for, also is it affected by the type of music you listen to as i only listen to rap and hip hop. so what tuning frequency should i tune to when using a RE SX 15inch in a Vw golf mk4 being powered at 1200rms

tuning frequency is all personal preference i believe. I suppose 35 Hz would be a medium for listening to all music.

Lower tuning for hop hop, anywhere from 28-34 i guess
