help with speaker box

i need help with a speaker box i built one a couple of days ago and i saw on ebay some people put foam in there i was wondering what i should put in mine and what would the foam do to the speaker box

It's not foam, it is poly-fill. You can pick it up in the fabric/craft section of Wal-Mart. You add it loosely to the inside of the box to slow down the backwave and make the sub act like it is in a bigger enclosure.

 

But add to much and it will actually take space away so use it sparingly.

Also, becareful adding too much to your box if it is ported because it could throw off your tuning.
