I'm planning a fairly simple two-amp setup, nothing over the top just something better than my stock.
I currently have:
- Kicker Key 200.4 (50w RMS x 4)... comes with manual that recommends 14awg wire and has a harness with two 14awg wires on it soldered together for power
- Blaupunkt active GTHS131 subwoofer for under the seat (120w RMS, peak 200w)
- amp wiring kit 4awg and another 8awg
- stinger 1 4awg in, 2 8awg out distribution block
- power wire runs are <=8ft from battery/distribution block

Plan was to have the 4awg from the battery to the Stinger block then split to 2 8awg to the amps
Problem, harness on the kicker has two 14awg power wires soldered together.
Question, can I solder/butt connect the one 8awg to the dual-14awg into the Kicker with not too many worries?

The amp is just 2 amps in one case
That's why the power and ground wires are separate but then soldered together
Yes you can connect them to one run of 8 gauge
Same with the ground.
Don't forget about the fuses.
How are you running a signal?
Do you have an aftermarket HU that has RCA outs on it or are you going to keep your stock HU and run a LOC

Signal highs through speakers for the signal and factory HU. For the power 14awg tiein to 8awg would you twist and pop on a terminal connector or solder?

I like using these for splicing oddball sizes

. Not permanent but a solid connection.

Yeah, put the probes on the power wire and ground wire of the amplifier. Multimeter on DC. Do not put it on the wires that go to your speakers. M
