Hi. I posted this question in another forum and got no responses. Im just looking for a little overall guidance and will ask more specific questions in the respective forums as I proceed with the install.
I'm changing the stock Mach stereo for a aftermarket system. I added a 250 watt MTX amp and an MTX 12" sub(4ohm). I later got a deal on 3 10" MTXs in a box @ 4 ohm. I added an 800 watt audiobahn amp from a friend and now its louder but not clean/tight enuff IMO.
Just put in a Sony CDX800/757MX changer. I mounted the changer where the old one was, in the center console, using existing plastic and a dremmel.
Now I want to upgrade the door speaker's etc. I'm thinking of running either some Polk Audio db6500 6-1/2" Component Speakers or some
Infinity Reference 6800cs Reference Series 5"x7"/6"x8" Component Speakers because they are fitted for the speaker opening in my truck. I dont know if I need to get a matching set for the rear doors or if I can just grab some decent 2 ways and save money.
The set up I have in mind is:
Sony Headunit - 250 watt mtx amp - f components & maybe rears.
\_ sub out - class d amp (which one)- a pair 10" or 12" subs (what kind). Subs in the rear corners facing?
Seems pretty straight forward but Im trying to get the best sound for my buck. Does anyone have a similar Expedition and how did you mount the subs (pics?)? What kind of amp and woofers should I run? Do I take 2 four ohm woofers and bridge it into a single 2 ohm woofer or buy 2 two ohm woofers and run 1 or 2 amps? What do you guys think of my speaker choices for the doors? Wheres the best place to mount the tweeters ont he front separates? Do I need to add a baffle or sound deadening etc?
Im obviously not trying to win any competitions but I would like some clean sound at a reasonable price. I listen to KROQ and rap and old rock mostly.
Any advice would be appreciated and pictures would help a lot.
TIA
Jon
