Help! JL Audio w3 question

I have 1 JL Audio w3 12" sub in a box and just recently ordered a Rockford Fosgate 400S amplifier for it. This amp puts out 400w x 1 at 4ohms @ 14.4v. Would this be a good choice for this sub? Also, doesn't a car battery put out 12.5v normally? If my battery does not give off 14.4 volts, is the amp going to put out less power to the sub since the amp was rated at 14.4v?

That amp should be fine. just keep the gain low.

Car battery vary between 12.5 to 14.4v. usually 12.5 when engine off and 14.4 when engine running. some cars only put out 13.8 though with the engine running.
