Headunit and amp question

I have a Sony CDX-MP30 headunit and I want to install a amp and sub, will I be able to do this because I don't think the headunit has a sub preamp?

You can still install a sub and amp using a different set of pre-outs (usually rear). You just won't be able to control the sub volume from the head unit, and the sub will be affected by the fader.

if you have a pre out, there is sub control on the deck, is this sub control like a gain for the on an amp?
