Head unit stolen; please read.

My head unit just got swiped today by a very bold and quick individual(s), right out in front of a store. Broke BOTH of my door latches, causing about $1,000 dollars damage to my truck.

If anyone was at or by the "Forever young" record store in Grand Prairie, TX on 4-28-04 at around 7:15 pm and saw who did this let me know.

If any body sees an Alpine head unit, model: CDA-7893 for sale by ANYONE, and it has the following serial number: F7893ANS20658761A* DO NOT BUY IT! I have reported it stolen and the police have the serial number also.

Also, I'll be checking the local pawn shops and e-bay to see if it shows up.

Any info someone can provide me that will put the maggot(s) in jail would be appreciated, and rewarded.

Any ads you see on a used Alpine HU your thinking about buying, please get the serial number, and if it's mine, don't buy it--report it to the cops or PM me.

Why am I going to this trouble? I want the thieves that did this punished; they get away with this crap way too much! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Thanks, later.

That's why if you have a detacable face you take your face off when you go into stores. Not saying it's your fault, but anything left seen in a car is probably going to get stolen, I know that for a fact after leaving some stuff in my truck and having it stolen. So now I take everything out/hide it or put my truck in the garage and lock it up. Sorry to hear about your loss though.

I had the face plate hidden; guess he (they) thought it might be worth a try anyway. And, it seems to me this truck of mine is way too easy to break in. Gonna have to see if I can fix that--or find something else to drive.

And your right Guantlet, some people steal stuff even though it might not be worth it. Someone ripped off the rear deck spoiler from my old '93 Escort awhile back, and I know they broke it getting it off! I swear there are people in this world that would steal the shirt off your back if they thought they could get away with it.

Thanks for the support; later.

Some people here have screens prominently on the dash, with their DVD changers right next to it. People here hardly remove their hu faceplate, and I've yet to hear of break-ins to cars. If they do break in, it's for change, not for audio stuff.. cool country, Korea..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Out of sight, out of mind is the only defense other than an alarm system w/pager. If you had one of those you could have come running out of the store ready to bust some heads. Not saying that is the safest thing to do but you could atleast get a plate number if they were in a vehicle. Or run them over if they were on a bike or on foot. Just my opinion.

The most aggravating thing about this kind of crap is there were probably people that saw it happening but did not do a thing about it !!!!! They were probably just laughing saying "look that car is being broken into...hehehehehe". Really annoying !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry about your deck. Will insurance cover the cost of a replacement?

This is the type of thread I think of when I see people making an argument against Eclipse's ESN security system.

People don't always take off their faceplates

Decks ARE stolen without faceplates attached

Thieves ****. All you can do is keep as low of a profile as possible, get an alarm, and be insured.

The insurance company is covering the loss--except for my $500 dollar deductable, which is MORE than my head unit replacement is; so basically, no their not really covering it, even though it was included in the estimate. The money from the check they cut me will be eaten up getting my truck repaired at the body shop. Oh well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
