Has anyone ever been in a vehicle with 170+ DB?

Yes....Huge difference between 160 and 170. Remember kids Decibles are exponential...So going from 160-161 is louder than going from 136-137. The higher up you get...the bigger the steps get.
Is there a number for that...like 1 decible more is X times louder?

I believe that for every 3 dB increase, it sounds twice as loud.
I think what he means is once you reach the higher levels, what dose 1 db equate to if in fact when you get higher, its a bigger step up.
I'm pretty sure that figure stays the same no matter what decible you are at.

Twice the accoustical power is required to have a theoretical increase of 3 dB.

The human ear typically perceives a 10dB increase as "twice as loud"... but who knows when you we are talking about sub bass at retarded loud levels.
