Good Sq 12" Sub

whats up everybody new to the sight. im looking for a good SQ 12". I listen to hard metal , i have 2 10" mtx 7500's ran with a mono mtx 801D . I've been told i can get better sq from a titanium series 12" sub in a ported box tuned right. Now i listen to some death metal bands with some nasty speed double kick drum. the problem with the 10" woofers is they cant get low with korn or tool and stuff like that. I just want a sub thats responsive enough to listen to metal but if i got the honies in the car i want to be able to run some dance tunes aswell. any kind of advice would greatly be appreciated. i've been instructed to run a singe 12" titanium(eclipse,audiobaun?,jl audio) in a ported box

Stereo Integrity Magnum D2. From the sounds of your other options, I'm guessing you have a pretty loose budget.

the magnum d2, RE XXX, JL w7, or JL w6v2

the w7 is the best out of those but also the most expensive the XXX and d2 are cheaper and still have very good performance

what about the eclipse's titanium series, or any other kind of titanium performance packages. Can you get good excursion response from a 12" in a ported box or do i need to stay in a vented? I heard the JL W7'S sound great in a ported box. Im looking for something that can keep up with the tempo. THANX EVERYBODY!!

if you listen to metal, with double pedals and all, I would really go for a sealed.

********. i hate seing people say this. they will just never realize tht theres no best.

W7 sounds amazing. they all sound amazing.

id go for a magnum D2 if i were you.

less money and sounds better IMO, but for all we know you could like a XXX or W7 better.

with those 3 subs there is no wrong choice though.

unless you are really into box design i would go sealed. i listen to lot of hard rock and its difficult to get a nice ported box tht will match sealed boxes for this application. it can be done but its hard and you beter have lots of room //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I know this argument has taken place hundreds of times, but why do you say the JL is the better driver? Is that what you heard from a friend? A shop? Give me a good reason why the JL is better besides, "I heard it and it's loud." Have you ever heard a XXX.....? I haven't. That's why I don't claim this.

I know its not anywhere in the price range everyone else is talking about but I just bought some Adire Audio Shiva Mk4's for $125 each shipped. They look to have a nice response range from the models I have run, but I won't really know how they sound until I install them. On the plus side I havent heard anyone trashing them...

who makes the magnum d2? Or any other of the subs other than the jl w7.should i run 2 12" in a sealed or can i get away with just 1 12'. I was recommended to run 1 12" eclipse(titanium) in a ported box, for good speaker responce.

I'm rather positive that you will not be as pleased with an Eclipse Titanium as you will with a Stereo Integrity Mag D2. The Mag is geared toward being an SQ driver, whereas the Eclipse is geared toward SPL.
