Getting back into shape - TIPS?

Wow, thanks for all the help guys.
I was really into working out from October 2006 - April 2007. My boss at the time got me in to it, he was a personal trainer part time. At that time I just wanted to gain weight, I was pretty skinny. He got me into a really brutal work out plan, I was at the gym atleast 6 days a week, and I lived off Creatine and Whey Protein. I was taking in about 120-160 grams of protein a day, and eating every hour. I ended up gaining 35 lbs in that 7 month period. I got really strong and gained quite a bit of size, but I also gained alot of fat too. When I stopped, I was at 187 lbs (5'9" tall).

Right now I'm about 170 and look good, I lost alot of fat but kept the muscle I gained from all that working out. I'd like to improve upon how I look now, meaning I'd like to have a 6-pack once again.

I would kill to be under 200 =( (235) im ****ing have soo much mass from lucky growth spurts. i had 2 in a row after i quite soccer and my medication for add. ADD keeps my feet, hands, arms and legs cut. but being a ****ing wrecking crew to all u can eat places keeps my upper body and stomach chubby..

wish i would of never quit soccer but stopped the meds

 
It wasn't solid.. but twas a little wet.

Which brings me to my next point. Fast food is the devil. Stay far away from it. All of it. Even that grilled chicken sandwich they say is good for you is loaded with sodium.
Which brings me to my next point. If your going to eat ALOT of protien, small amounts of fat, and no sugar...make sure to get your fiber.

When I eat right I couldn't shit my pants if I tried...

 
Take Bonesninja's advice. Make sure you get a lot of potassium too. Protein is the obvious, but H2) is probably the most important. Also if your just going for looks and not strength when your lifting do high reps with a lighter weight as opposed to more weight low reps. Also try doing a pyramid once a week on the different muscles. That will really tone you up. If your not sure what a pyramid is..... basically you start with a light weight and do many reps. Then lower the reps and increase the weight until you get to what ever your max is, then go back down. Example

185x5

205x3

225x1

245x1 (with a spotter)

205x3

185x5

165x8

155x10

135x15(or more)

Just make sure you don't overwork your muscles, you won't have much progress.

 
Oh yeah..Someone else already mentioned it..but..

If you ever do a 5x5 routine.. Be sure to try and take a dump before you do your deadlifts and squats..I have had to stop several times after a set because of prarie dogging.

And if you have to fart, let it out quietly before you start any lift your going to strain doing. Weighted dips caught me once. The gym is never quiet until your mid fart.

 
no cokes, 1 mt dew has the daily need of suagr which is around 45-48grams..ice cream dont eat it..chocolate dont eat it..chips dont eat them...do all them and drank alot of water and work out 30-45 mins a day u should be good..i lost 10 pounds after i stopped drinkin cokes..

All correct.

My case: i wanted to gain weight 2 years ago and i started goin to the gym.

Was going 4-6 times a week for a year and went from 160lb to 190lbs pure muslce- Sh*t even had 6 packs.

Did it to look good for girls and it helped. met sorority girl she introduced me to the rest and party began and went for few months.

Was going out (or @ the house parties)thursday,friday, saturday for 3 months.

Long story short: ***+alcohol = now im 170-180 but not lean anymore.

*** didnt help at all in my case.

Not to brag or anything- was having it 1-5 times a week since for several months.

Now graduated from college and everything is just the same as it was 2 years ago+i got a job

But my job takes most of my time so have no time for working out.
