getting an old beetle!!!!

You don't understand. 2 15's may put you in the hospital from ear bleeding. The subs are very close to your ears and there isn't a trunk that the sound has to get through.

lol i may be able to pass english and other school subject, but im not the most logically smart person //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif im doin this to beat on the streets, and get some GOOD numbers on the lanes.

how much do u think u can get out of such a small motor? im definately baggin it, but i will DEFFINATELY put some HP mods to get back quicker than stock atleast. i know im gunna put on some exhaust and all that. is there any intake kits or any kind since the carbs dont have a direct flow of air?

Depends how far you want to go. With a turbo you can run around 350-400hp. Mod engine using stock engine block you can get 200 hpish which will put you in the 12's. As for carbs run either cb performance injection setup which uses 48mm barrels, which are big enough to run on a v8. Basically with this setup you're getting 1 massive barrel to each cylinder. It's also smog legal. You can also pick up dual 48mm weber IDA carbs (these aren't smog legal).

when u ay over sized pistons and cylinders, would u need to do major engine work for that? im new to engines as ive never really cared lol but if u would IM me on aim at red05v6stang, or just PM cuz i have some questions. for the intake im gunna run dual carb so i will prolly have one duct on each side, on top the fenders

You can run up to 94mm pistons in a stock engine case. You can run up to a max of 84mm crank shaft in a stock case. The most common engin size for reliable and decent power is 78mm crank and 90.5mm pistons. You end up with like 2.1 liter engine. Don't get the 92mm pistons as they are supposed to have problems when compared to the 90.5mm pistons and 94mm pistons. I always wanted to run the 84mm crank shaft in mine and the 94mm pistons. I ended up with just the stock 69mm counter weighted scat crank and aftermarket 92mm pistons because I already had the pistons. It was pretty fast (could peel out in it) but the gearing wasn't the best for drag racing. The advantage to the bigger stroke crankshaft is you will gain hp but more importantly torque down low.

so for best performance what would u say? 90.5 pistons, and 78 crank? this is NOT going to be a daily driver. at best it will be biweekly/weekend driver when its driveable. because really when i get it running, my mom will be driving it to work and stuff IF she can stand it. my only problem is, i BELIEVE its automatic. which for me is good (i CAN drive stick) but my aunts beetle is a pain to start in first, but really i guess it doesnt matter. ill take what i can get. but anyways, how are the ******'s on these things. im PRETTY SURE its a 71

If it's an automatic I don't know. If it's a stick the ***** aren't strong but if you are gentle and not banging hard through the gears you'll be fine. You can later get a modded transmission. Mine was fine. Stick you can decide how much you want to abuse them. Just be easy on it until you get it beefed up. If your mom is going to be driving it during the week I would say get the 90.5 pistons and the 78 crank as this will keep your case as strong as possible.

Your engine is a type 1. Here's some links, unfortunately it has been a few years and I'd have to find the magazines to get you some more links. The magazines have got stores advertising in them and you can get stuff cheaper through these places. Purchase a "hot vw's" magazine.

HOWEVER, IF IT'S AN AUTOMATIC THEN IGNORE ALL THAT I HAVE SAID ABOUT PERFORMANCE UPGRADES BECAUSE YOUR TRANSMISSION WILL PROBABLY EXPLODE.

any info on where to get performance parts? im lookin at this one dual exhaust, its only like 90 dollars.

I got an aftermarket exhaust for mine. THe main drawback in the exhaust system is the heater boxes. I removed mine. I don't know how cold it is where you live but if you decide to get an exhaust system that eliminates the heater boxes to gain peformance, you're not going to have a functional heater, which didn't bother me, I just wore a jacket but my area isn't that cold.

im pretty **** sure its a 71. cuz i remember wone being a 71 and one being a 69 and my aunt says hers is a 69, so im going with 71

I'd take the 69 if you have a choice as the 69 may have a swing axle in the back which is supposed to be stronger thant the IRS setup on the newer bugs. But the advantage to both these years is that they are smog exempt.

lol the 69 is a full restore, ill get pics later of it. the 71 is sitting in a yard beat up a little. its just a project of mine that ive always wanted to build and i finally got the chance. as far as performance...i really dont care if its slow....i drove a truck that did a quarter mile of 25 seconds......ill deal with it. **** mazda aka:slowest mini truck made. the heater box is not necessarily needed. i live in mississippi and while it DOES get cold.....ill manage. are the auto trannys really that bad? i mean im not gunna be racing around in it (that i know of right now) i just want something that can g aup to speed a little better. cuz i gotta get up to highway speeds if im gunna go to shows and stuff.
